Career Opportunities as a CNA
|
|
The CNA is an important member of the health care team.
CNAs perform many hands-on skills to assist people who cannot care for themselves.
The work is challenging, but for those who enjoy helping other people, it is very rewarding.
CNAs are of critical importance to the health and well-being of those they care for because they are in the best position to observe changes that could impact the client's health.
CNAs work primarily in long term care facilities, but opportunities also exist in hospitals and home care settings. Starting pay is significantly above minimum wage and there are often opportunities to work extra shifts. Agency work is another option for those wanting flexibility.
Demand for CNAs has increaseed substantially since March of 2008 when Oregon rules changed to require more CNA’s in nursing facilities.
