Musical
director Jonathan Chase is both a professional musician and autism
advocate. Jonathan was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome at the age
of 14, the same year he got his first bass guitar. Two years later he
was working as a professional musician playing with bands in the
Pacific Northwest. At the age of 18 he made the first of four trips to
Victor Wooten’s Bass / Nature Camp in Nashville, TN.
In addition to music, he runs his own autism consulting company where
he mentors teens and young adults, runs social groups, and finds new
and interesting ways to bring young people out of their comfort zone
to engage socially. His mentorship program includes everything from
guitar lessons to foam sword battles.
Jonathan is also an experienced public speaker and published author.
His book, From Surviving to Thriving: Classroom Accommodations for
Students on the Autism Spectrum, offers educators practical
accommodations to support their students.
As musical director of The Spectrum Collective Jonathan brings
together the artists, arranges much of the material, and manages the
logistics of the project
